Inspiration

Filed under: Others — admin @ 12:35 am

From the desk of Samy,

It’s awesome how little things can change you so much. Some years ago, when I was just 15 or so, I saw a picture at my old English school. It was a mountain, full of snow, and it seemed to be very cold out there. In the middle, a man, climbing it. The perspective was huge: it seemed that the man couldn’t go back but, at the same time, he would need ages to climb to the top and be safe. There was a sentence at the bottom:

You have to climb as high as you can ever dream

Dr. Shaq O’neal vs Rodney Stuckey

Filed under: Others — admin @ 4:08 pm

From the desk of Samy,

Sometimes there are just some things you wouldn’t ever imagine. One of them, that makes me freak out the other day, was that I didn’t know Shaq O’neal was physics PhD … It caught my by surprise. But after have reviewed what happened, I’m blaming myself because it was so obvious…! Shaq has been playing basketball for ages and there are stuff that, unalterably, he knows. And by extension, he must be some kind of PhD, because this is real knowledge…

The laws of physics say that a body in motion stays in motion,” Professor Shaq stated. “So if you have two objects meet in the air, the smaller object is going to fall much harder. I’ve never been the type of player to take anybody out, so I obviously went to the ball. The little guy ran into a brick wall.

Do you think he was right? You can judge by yourself

Uuuhhh… Shaq is the best. Maybe he was a bit hard, yeah… But he’s the best! He stands for many feelings in Basketball such as courage, common sense, effort, dedication… Uh, I’m becoming melancholic, sorry…

To finalize, while I was looking for some information in order to write and complement this post I came across a funny video of Shaq, LeBron, Dwight Howard dancing in an NBA match… they can be whatever you want, but you can’t deny that they have, at least, a good sense of humour!

How does the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) work?

Filed under: Others — admin @ 3:25 pm

From the desk of Samy,

The most common topic these days is the LHC, is this gonna work? Are we all dead once it starts colliding particles? How secure is it? What about if something goes wrong? Well, I’m not physicist nor an expert but I don’t understand why so many people are so worried about the possible end of the world or a global disaster. Well, I do know why. The reason is the misinformation. Two scientist have claimed the worst possible end basing their claims on air. And the 99% of the other scientists are really expecting the results of LHC. Don’t let them frighten you, an experiment of 6000 millions € is not a we-can-try-this-and-see-what-happens! If you do believe this experiment is gonna creak us, then, clear your mind up and try to think as if you are Sarah PalinShe thinks God is the creator and that dinosaurs existed 4000 years ago (remember that 5000 years ago God created the earth and so on) so you won’t be concerned any more, because this experiment will fail for sure, it’s science. If you haven’t notice, I’m being sarcastic.

Either way, here you have a video about how LHC works, very interesting, I think everybody should take a look at this, LHC could be an authentic revolution…

My holidays 2008

Filed under: Myself, Others — admin @ 2:04 pm

From the desk of Samy,

Hi folks!
It’s been a while since last time we talked. It’s been a weird time (July/August).
On July I didn’t have to study because I had passed all the February exams on the first attempt (first time ever) so, I went to the beach with my girlfriend (Beth) a few days. We stayed at Calafell because my parents had rented an apartment there. Unlucky for me, when I came back, something strange happened to me: I got up with two fingers swollen… Out of the blue! Well, it may be a… Dunno. Just let it go.
I started to work at home (I wanted to work but finally I didn’t get any job due to exams and so on, therefore my father gave me some work, proceeding from his company, which I could do at home). I had to test 25.000 small pieces, manually. It meant I had to manipulate them with the fingers mentioned above. Well, it hurt but it was bearable.
But then, when I got up the next day… I couldn’t walk! It was a nightmare! I couldn’t even stay standing. It seemed my left ankle had decided to hurt a lot even though it wasn’t swollen (like my fingers). Ibuprofeno… It didn’t work. I went to the ward but the doctor told me to go ahead taking ibuprofeno (it’s a sedative medicine). Well, he was the specialist so he was supposed to know what was going on. I started to be able to walk and I went to the beach so that I could enjoy the sea a little bit. Bad choice! The next day, I had my ankle swollen and I couldn’t walk again. I went to the doctor because it wasn’t normal. He was clear: urine and blood test to determine what could be making this inflammations, maybe it wasn’t as superficial as he thought first.

Definition of “que cojones” in English

Filed under: Humour, Others — admin @ 3:34 am

Which is the definition of “que cojones” in English? Why do Spanish people use this idiom so regularly and naturally? Let’s analyze it.

From the desk of Samy,

I never, ever would have imagined that I would write the following text! It turned out I was taking a look at my blog stats when I came across this…

Definition of "que cojones" in English

Definition of "que cojones" in English

I think all Spanish people will agree with me that this is, at least, funny funny funny! I’ll try to explain what this means, it’s not easy though!
First of all you must place yourself: this is a Spanish idiom, indeed, a very informal and vulgar one. In Spain, don’t wonder why, there are one type of men: they are machos ibericos. The translation would be males but it doesn’t have the same meaning at all.
These machos are men who likes to talk very rude and act very masculine. And the more hair you have, the better and if you drink a lot of beer as well, you could be the machos ibericos’ god.

Geek comments and bad banner :(

Filed under: Others, Wordpress — admin @ 1:44 am

From the desk of Samy,

I thought I had already told you some other changes that I did to the blog but after reviewing my latest posts… I didn’t.
I was surfing the net when I came across some blogs that had changed its comments and instead of reading X comments they had personalised it. I thought it was a good idea so I change a little bit the code and now instead of X comments you will see 1 geek comment or X geeks comments. A bit of funny… hehehe

And BTW, my banner designer is on holidays and I dunno when he’s gonna come back so, I’ve got my banner ready but it doesn’t fit well… And if I resize it, the quality will dissapear… So, I’ve got a banner a bit awkward…

What a pitty…

Filed under: Others — admin @ 11:24 pm

In basketball terms, you can’t never assure that a match will be decided b4 it starts.

Spain hasn’t played its game. It’s a pitty…

Congratulations for Russia.

Spain is Caipirinha [Spain VS. Russia] (Basketball)

Filed under: Others — admin @ 4:39 pm

In basketball terms, you can’t never assure that a match will be decided b4 it starts.

But there are some exceptions. When a team is self-confidence, it can raise a lot their own habilities. Spain won the last World Championship, and this is very well-known. They were (and in my opinion, they are now too) the best, and what is worst for their enemies is that they know it. And after all a very important thing, is that they are modest. It’s like a Caipirinha… It’s a nice drink, although you don’t know exactly what it has. But… Try your best: Combine the right elements in their exact quantity… Your tongue will thank you for such an extreme explosion of savour.

I reckon Spain has combined again the best elements to mix. I’m an old basketball player… I can smell it.

Spain’s right now a perfect Caipirinha… Will Pepú Hernandez shake it correctly? I hope so.

Good luck Spain.
