Which hosting is better? Which is worth more? 000webhost (free/upgrades) or dreamhost? a bit analyze of each one:
From the desk of Samy,
Some months ago, I started to search for some free hosting so that I could host my wordpress blog. I was tired of the non-free wordpress.com blog. So, my requirements were a few but important: I didn’t want ads of any kind and I need (or, at least, I wanted) a good bandwidth. I found 000webhost. It’s free, it has a good bandwitdh (100GB/mth) and it doesn’t have ads of any kind, as I wanted. The whole list of features is available here. It was the best I found so, my blog is in 000webhost. Did I like it? Kind of. What’s kind of? Sometimes, my blog was unavailable due to server causes. The first time that my blog was down was OK, but I didn’t like it much. After 5 or 6 months with 000webhost I’ve had some downtime’s problems, but the blog is alive and I think that, in this field, 000webhost is good (remember that it’s free). I hosted another website here: my own security system, running in my room PC, with scripts created by Aitor[thank you, Aitor;)] (I only modified them a bit because I needed to adapt them to my computer and necessities, of course).
However, when I started to design and to develop my own website, which will include a database (mysql), some firefox plugins (XUL. BTW, I haven’t the foggiest about programming in XUL… But I’ll learn it :D), among others, 000webhost wasn’t the best option. Why?

From the desk of Samy,
I thought I had already told you some other changes that I did to the blog but after reviewing my latest posts… I didn’t.
I was surfing the net when I came across some blogs that had changed its comments and instead of reading X comments they had personalised it. I thought it was a good idea so I change a little bit the code and now instead of X comments you will see 1 geek comment or X geeks comments. A bit of funny… hehehe
And BTW, my banner designer is on holidays and I dunno when he’s gonna come back so, I’ve got my banner ready but it doesn’t fit well… And if I resize it, the quality will dissapear… So, I’ve got a banner a bit awkward…

From the desk of Samy,
Recently, I only post humour sketches and so on: I don’t have too much time because I’m not at home and I think this is the best way to keep this blog alive. Short and funny posts in order to maintain daily visits.
Anyway, I’ve come across this cartoon and I’m sure that no girl would want to meet this kind of boy ever…

At the moment of choosing Windows or Linux everyone will have his own preferences … But this spot, released in 2003 by IBM, it’s awesome. I liked it and I wanted to share it with you. Judge yourself.

From the desk of Samy,
I used to think, when I was younger, that if the students didn’t pass an exam, the culprit was the teacher. I was about 15 and I hate the way teachers corrected exams. Time goes by, and now that I’m at University, I’ve changed my mind: the only culprit of pass or fail an exam is the student. Maybe the subject is very difficult and the exam as well, but you should already know that. But, of course, there is always the exception that proves the rule. When only 4 people out of 90 pass an exam … the culprit, without hesitating, is the teacher. Neither for the exam nor for the correction method but for the methodology that the teacher uses at class. We have passed subjects very much difficult and important, but only 4 people have been able to pass the fucking exam of probability and statistics. Come on, we are not the problem. Change your methodology and start teaching at class… One thing that you should start to do, because if not, we don’t know what do you want and how do you want that, a book doesn’t teach this… ¬¬
I’m pissed off, it was the exam which I had been studying more and I thought I had pass it without problems! It has been the hardest exam I’ve ever seen in this subject though(comparing the exam with other courses). Ok, I’ve got one for September… I’m not gonna work now either, thanks a lot ¬¬
I almost had a perfect this course. I only have one retake… Unfair, in my opinion, but I have one retake anyway. I wanna rip someone’s head off…

PS: My mark is… 4.9 / 10.

From the desk of Samy,
As you may have apreciate, I’ve changed a few things of the blog.
Now, there are some google ads on each page. Maybe I can earn extra cash for blogging. Who knows!
Moreover, I’ve shortened the posts: the main page was too long and slow connections could result affected. I wanted to optimize that so now, there is a summary of each post and if you are interested in it, you can expand and read the whole post.
More changes: As you can see, I’ve got a banner. Yeah, I needed it but due to my incapability of using photoshop I hadn’t got a banner… yet. Ichi has created one for the blog. There was a problem, my blog has a CSS adapted to all screen resolutions. That is to say, the width of the page is not in pixels but in percentages (90%). So, I’ve calculated how many pixels would fill the banner in 1024×768 and in 1280×800 resolution and then, I’ve programmed a very simple javascript to switch from one banner to the other depending on which resolution have the readers. So, I’ve got two banners that are the same but have differents sizes. The smaller one is displayed when the reader has a 1024×768 resolution, and the bigger one when the reader has a 1280×800 resolution in order to fit perfectly in the blogpage header.
The code is this (as you can see, it’s very simple):
